Craftsman™

Craftsman is an education brand created by Flaur Inc. to turn after-school hours into time when children can grow and develop their abilities.
Our founder spent more than 15 years at Apple working in sales, technical support, repair, development, and staff training. Craftsman is distinctive because we bring the communication skills, learning design, and thoughtful use of technology developed through that experience into children’s education.

We value everyday opportunities that are neither study alone nor play alone—time for children to think, work with their hands, and build up the feeling of“I did it!”.

Where the name “Craftsman” comes from

A craftsman is someone who develops advanced skills and creates things with care.
We believe children learn in much the same way.

Building skills step by step, even when results do not come immediately
Trying with their own hands, making mistakes, and finding new approaches
Feeling genuine pride when they succeed

The name Craftsman reflects our wish to nurture this very attitude toward learning.

How Craftsman Sees the Value of After-School Time

About Craftsman
After School

Craftsman After School offers a wide range of programs—including enrichment classes and 3D printing—that help children build a strong foundation for future learning, including junior-high school entrance examinations.

Core enrichment classes are included at no additional charge.
Care available until 9:00 p.m.: We respondflexiblyto unexpected overtime or other commitments.
School pickup is available for first-grade pupils: helping families feelreassuredwhen using the service for the first time.
Arrival and departure notifications through our dedicated app: helping you check your child’ssafetyin real time.
Updates on your child’s growth through the app: staff provide adetailed reportafter each session.
Filtered drinking water: all drinking water provided to children isfilteredwith health and wellbeing in mind.
Modern technology: children use equipment that is still uncommon in after-school care, including3D printersas part of their regular activities.

Programs We Offer

Craftsman After School offers the following programs during after-school care.
Select a program to learn more. Programs are included in the after-school care fee, except for certain optional paid activities.

Inquiry-Based Activities (Learning Friday): Activities that deepen children’s interests, including 3D printing and programming.
Abacus Classes：Craftsman Abacus Classes (Japanese site)are included at no additional charge, helping children develop calculation skills and concentration.
Calligraphy Classes (Brush Calligraphy)：Craftsman Calligraphy Classes (Japanese site)are available at no additional charge, with opportunities to advance through recognised grade and rank levels.
Color Education (Iroiku®): Uses colour to develop communication and creativity through emotional education.
English: English learning designed to strengthen communication skills.
Digital Making Classes: A hands-on technical program using Prusa 3D printers and web-based CAD for design and production.

Because these activities take place within the after-school facility, children do not need to travel elsewhere for lessons.

Facilities and Equipment

Craftsman After School is designed so children can spend their time comfortably and with confidence.

A variety of learning spaces: Areas for making, reading, relaxing in the lodge, and many other activities.

Safety: Our equipment meets applicable safety standards. Drinking water is highly filtered using a Toray Torayvino system. We providefiltered waterso children can safely refill their bottles in summer.

Comfort: A bright, open space where children can relax and take part in activities.

Keeping Families Informed

Craftsman After School supports children’s growth through close communication with parents and guardians.

Individual meetings: Available on request to discuss each child’s experiences and development.
Activity records and communication notes (documentation): We share individual photos and reports about your child’s daily experiences and learning.
Events: Workshops and presentations are held throughout the year.

Hands-On, Experience-Based Programs

Craftsman After School programs include abacus, calligraphy, Color Education (Iroiku®), English, 3D printing, and many other activities. Children deepen their learning by working with their hands and gaining first-hand experience.

After-school time can shape a child’s future

Children spend about 1,200 hours a year learning at school, while primary-school children spendaround 1,650 hours in after-school time. We believe these hours should be treated not simply as childcare, but as valuable time that helps shape each child’s future.
In a comfortable, safe environment, children at Craftsman After School canuse real tools and learn through first-hand experience.

STEAM Education and the Learning Cycle

How action and learning form a cycle

Through daily program experiences, children naturally engage with a STEAM learning cycle. Integrating science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics gives them new perspectives and helps develop creativity and problem-solving skills. First-hand experiences that may be difficult to gain at home or school build the confidence to take on future challenges.

Non-cognitive skills¹

We often hear concerns like these. They relate to abilities that are not easily measured by numbers.

At Craftsman, rather than focusing on scores or competition, we value experiences such as deciding and trying for oneself, working with others, and finding a way through challenges. We also talk with children using “RULE (Japanese article)”—Craftsman’s own feedback approach, inspired by people-development methods used at Apple.

These daily experiences help children develop non-cognitive skills—abilities that may be invisible, but support them throughout life.

Craftsman provides after-school care with particular attention to these non-cognitive skills.

* Because we place great importance on the quality of the environment and our engagement with each child, an interview is generally required before enrollment. Based on the interview, we may determine that our current staffing and support arrangements cannot provide the level of safety or care a child needs.
